File Extension PUB

What is a Document File?

The .pub file extension is a document file format, which is use to make several various kinds of publications. Some examples of it are flyers, newsletters, brochures and postcards, even e-mail and Web site formats, which has text and both vector and raster graphics. The .pub file extension is an output of the Microsoft Office Publisher, or also known as Microsoft Publisher, and it is described as an application that is for entry-level desktop publishing.

The PUB file extension is somewhat similar to a Word document; the only difference is that the PUB file is more focused on the layout and design, rather than the composition of text and proofing. File/s with the .pub file extension can even contain audio files to match the design of the document, and to add life to the design images; even animation clips can be added. PUB files can be easily published and shared, because there is an option for online viewing, commercial printing, and desktop printing included in the Microsoft Publisher application.

PUB files are popular in the small business market because it is just easy to create and publish, and the Microsoft Publisher does not need professionals to create a design or marketing materials. The .pub file extension is supported by the application Adobe PageMaker, and the tool PUB2ID by Markzware can convert PUB files from editions 2002 through 2004 to Adobe InDesign CS2 and CS3. Microsoft Publisher is also supporting other file formats, such as the Enhanced Metafile (EMF) file format that is also supported on Windows operating systems.

PUB files can be saved in different forms such as a Microsoft Document, page-independent PostScript file, or as a PDF or XPS file. File/s with the .pub file extension that is created using the Microsoft Publisher 2007 can be opened or saved as a Microsoft Publisher 2002 or Microsoft Publisher 2003 file, just by choosing the correct option under the Save as Type list, which is the Publisher files option.
